Grants - Burlington Foundation - Community Service Recovery Fund

Community Services Recovery Fund

Get a $400 million investment from the Government of Canada’s Burlington Foundation, to support community service organizations (CSOs) for recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Community Service Organizations (CSOs) are non-profit organizations, Indigenous governing bodies, or registered charities that serve communities within Canada. Eligible Organizations 

Organizations must fulfil each of the requirements below in order to be eligible for funding from the Community Services Recovery Fund: 

  • Either be incorporated, created, or have its main registered office in Canada 
  • Provide services to Canadian communities 
  • Abide by applicable regulations and be in good standing with the Canada Revenue Agency, a provincial registration, or any relevant agency. 
  • Have a board, management committee, or another sort of governing body in place with at least three members.

Project Focus Areas 

The Community Services Recovery funded projects will operate within one of the project focus areas listed below. These initiatives should be created to bolster CSOs’ internal capabilities. Although some projects may touch on more than one Project Focus Area, qualified organizations are required to choose one core focus area that most accurately captures the project’s primary goal.

Evaluation criteria

  1. The COVID-19 epidemic has impacted, altered, or modified the CSO’s operations. 
  2. The planned project is feasible, which means it can be carried out within the allotted time and budget, and the organization is able to oversee the project. 
  3. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the proposed project will aid the CSO in adapting, modernising, or enhancing resilience. 
  4. The applicant approaches its work with an equity lens. 
Additional consideration will be given to how to fairly distribute the available cash, for instance, among different organization types, populations serviced, subsectors, project focus areas, and geographic regions.
