PoE (Power Over Ethernet) IP Cameras

Deploy an IP Camera up to 100m away from a power source with a PoE enabled IP Camera.
A PoE (Power over Ethernet) Camera utilises a technology that integrates power into a standard LAN infrastructure. PoE enables power to be provided to the network device, such as an IP phone or a network IP camera, using the same cable as that used for network connection. It eliminates the need for power outlets at the IP camera locations and enables easier application of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) to ensure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation.

Outdoor cameras as well as PTZ cameras and Dome cameras have a power consumption that normally exceeds this, making PoE functionality less suitable.

Simple, flexible and reliable surveillance

Not only this, it is also possible to deploy fully redundant surveillance system by adding an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to ensure 24/7 operation. An UP can be connected to the PoE-switch to make sure all your network cameras stayed powered and operational even in the even of a power failure.

What’s more, together with PoE switches that supports Auto Surveillance VLAN, you can quickly and easily setup a manageable and reliable IP surveillance system. Auto Surveillance VLAN automatically prioritises surveillance traffic above ordinary data traffic. This allows you to create a hybrid network that is capable of handling both data and surveillance traffic, saving you the costs of deploying and maintaining a separate network for surveillance traffic only.

Most PoE switches also support time-based PoE. This option allows administrators to set a schedule that determines when each camera is powered on and off. This can be useful for schools that only require surveillance during out of school hours, or a shop that only requires indoor surveillance during opening hours.
