Radio frequency identification or RFID is a technology that relies on radio waves in order to transmit digital data for identification purposes. Traced back to the early 1980’s, RFID finds its origins in the beginnings of radio technology when it was used to passively identify objects.

WHAT IS RFID?

It is a system composed of a tag, a reader, and an antenna. Tags and readers can be either active or passive. The passive tag / active reader combination is commonly used for access control solutions. Tags are encoded with respective identification information which consequently ensures that effective and secure access is granted for its holder. The RFID reader, also called an interrogator, sends signals to the RFID tag to receive authentication replies.

CARD ACCESS CONTROL

Every entry or attempted entry is recorded and compiled into a report. All it takes is to swipe the smart card while facing the key scan reader in order to initiate door access.

FOB ACCESS CONTROL

A key fob system, also referred to as RFID, is a radio frequency identification device composed of a smart key – the fob – and its reader. It grants automatic access whenever the stored data within your key is authenticated by the reader. 

E-CARD ACCESS CONTROL

The e-card is associated usually with a person’s smartphone. Hardware detects the e-card when the phone is brought within its proximity and provides/denies access to the person.
