Electronic Switches

Electronic switches are used in exit devices to monitor the status of door openings. These switches can be paired with accessories, such as an independent horn, to provide additional security levels. Should an application require it, the switches can be set up to communicate a breach at the opening through a centralized or independent security system. Several switch options are available to meet application needs, including request to exit (RX), latchbolt monitoring (LX) and signal switches (SS).

An RX switch monitors the exit device’s touchbar and signals the door opening. It is ideal for applications on the push side of a door and are available on 98/99, 55/88 and 22 Series exit devices.

An LX switch monitors the exit device’s latchbolt and signals the door opening or closing. There are several applications for the latchbolt monitor. It can be used independently to monitor just the latchbolt or it can be used in conjunction with an RX switch to monitor both sides of the door. It is ideal for applications on the pull side and push side of a door and are available on 98/99, 94/95, 33/35 and 22 Series exit devices.

An SS switch monitors both the exit device’s touchbar and latchbolt and will signal when unauthorized use occurs. This option is equipped with a key switch output, requiring the user to override the switch at the door. It is ideal for monitoring applications on the push side and pull side of a door and is available on 98/99, 94/95, 33/35 and 22 Series exit devices.
